Classical Gas

Music fills the rooms of our home most days... it's a wonderful thing!

Caleb knows he could play this song for me a hundred times in a row and I'd never tire of hearing it. I just love it! Well, truth be known, I love to hear him play anything on his guitar. It brings this mother's heart great joy.

This song was originally titled Classical Gasoline as written by Mason Williams in 1968. It was later shortened to Classical Gas and is considered one of the most loved and recognized songs in instrumental music. I will confess that while I recognized the song when I first heard it, I didn't know its name. Classical Gas is a funny name, don't ya think?

Caleb started playing guitar when he was 7 years old...half his life ago!

Happy Thursday!

  1. Ah, Classical Gas - and Mason Williams. And the Tomato Vendetta. I used to have all his music on 8-track tapes (and you know the way they went) but never replaced it... Enjoy, and I'll have to have Caleb play it for me - In person, not on YouTube ;)

  3. Michelle,

Hey! I know that tune as well, and never knew that it was called, "Classical Gasoline." What a funny title!

Anyway, your son Caleb is very talented. I enjoyed hearing him play, and his smile at the end of his performance spoke 1,000 unsaid words. No wonder he does your heart good, Mom. :)

Thank you for sharing this. Also, tell Caleb thank you for sharing his musical talents with us. :)

    Blessings,

  4. You know, I have never heard the song, and the title of your post has me in stitches!

It is BEAUTIFUL though! WOW, I wish Caleb could teach me a few pointers; I would absolutely love to be able to play like that!
