Green Grass Greetings

LOVE U MOM hand cut by Caleb

You might have to look closely to see through the shadow of the tree, but that inscription in our front yard was lovingly clipped out by hand by Caleb. This was his personal birthday card to me!

He had gone up to his room to work on a gift for me. I thought he was working on a special song (I later found Michelle by the Beatles selected on the iPod), but I think as he was playing the piece on the guitar, he was looking out the window and got this very creative idea. The next thing I knew, I was told not to go outside nor go near the windows. A little while later, he came into the kitchen looking very hot and sweaty and then said, "I just hope I don't get in trouble for this!"

I started wondering if he had decorated my car or painted a message on the driveway. Never in a million years would I have guessed he was out there cutting the grass by hand. I love his creativity and ingenuity!

After supper, he had us all walk upstairs, keeping our eyes closed until just the right moment and, "Wow!" there it was.

LOVE U MOM

I don't know why he thought even for a second that he could get in trouble. I know I'll be sad when the grass grows back long enough for his wonderful message to disappear. For now, I can peer outside the upstairs windows and see this fabulous work of art.

I'm wondering if this new greeting card idea might be the next best thing to waking up with 40 cardboard cows in the yard. Caleb has been wanting to get a summer job...maybe, just maybe, this is it. Let's see...the company could be called Green Grass Greetings. Yea, I like that!
